Let’s Talk Chemical Peels

Let’s talk peels! Since the infamous SATC episode featuring a disastrous peel that rendered Samantha trapped beneath a large hat, an entire generation has feared this wonder treatment. Peels are often thought to be much harsher and riskier than they actually are, and exploring the right peel for your skin type and needs can be daunting and confusing. However, getting to know peels and how to best incorporate the right one for you into your treatment plan will reward you with second-to-none glowing, healthy skin.

What is a Chemical Peel and what should I expect?

Simply put: A chemical peel involves the application of a chemical solution to the skin to lift or exfoliate its outermost layers. Along with revealing brighter, fresher-looking skin through exfoliation, peels can also target and treat multiple skin concerns including acne, congestion, dehydration, ageing, pigmentation and scarring.

Before any peel, it’s important to first prepare the skin so that it can tolerate the treatment without any adverse reactions. Starting with a healthy, functioning skin barrier is necessary to support optimal results. Common side effects include a slight itch or tingly sensation and a warmth and flushing through the skin. Most peels are quite tolerable and comfortable, however intense peels can result in peeling skin (as the name suggests) or other impacts for a short time. At Glo Haus we offer a variety of peels that target a range of skin concerns. When considering any of our in-haus peels, it is important to discuss with your treating Therapist about your options and suitability.

Blueberry Antioxidant Peel

Our Blueberry Antioxidant Peel is a fantastic entry-level peel for those just starting out in their peel journey. With no down time or peeling effect, this peel combines the powerhouse antioxidant benefits of blueberry with a gentle manual exfoliation and L-Lactic Acid. It will leave your skin invigorated, smooth and glowing.

Lactobotanical Peel

Our Lactobotanical Peel is a combination of L-Lactic Acid and a patented Canadian Willowherb extract. L-Lactic Acid is a gentle AHA that thoroughly exfoliates to re-texturise the skin. It improves the appearance of fine lines and pigmentation while providing hydrating properties to maintain moisture levels in the skin. The Canadian Willowherb extract provides a calming antioxidant that comforts the skin. Combined together, this treatment is perfect for anyone looking to combat the early signs of ageing or combine the benefits of exfoliation and hydration. In some cases slight peeling can occur.

Problem Skin Peel

Our Problem Skin Peel is a combination of 20% Salicylic Acid, fruit-derived AHA's and a blend of Amazonian-sourced plant extracts. Salicylic Acid is an oil-soluble BHA that exfoliates the skin and lining of the pores, helping to decrease excess oil, lift debris and clarify the skin. Fruit-derived AHA's provide potent antioxidant protection and exfoliating properties that improve the texture of the skin. Amazonian plant extracts including Acai Berry help to minimise redness and relieve inflamed skin. This peel is best suited for people experiencing excessive oil flow and/or congestion and breakouts and will help to reduce inflammation within the skin. This treatment is expected to create mild dryness, light to moderate flaking, slight breakouts or purging, and some redness.

Timeless Peel

Our Timeless Peel rejuvenates ageing and sun-damaged skin through the combination of Lactic Acid and Retinol (Vitamin A). This peel encourages cell turnover and delivers powerful results to reduce the appearance of fine lines and pigmentation. Working deeper within the skin and left on for a number of hours, you can expect 3-5 days of mild dryness, light to moderate flaking, slight breakouts or purging, sensitivity and redness.

Cosmelan Peel

Our Cosmelan Peel is a world-leading treatment program for clear, bright and even skin. The Cosmelan Peel drastically and effectively reduces and removes stubborn pigment such as Melasma and UV sun damage, evens skin tone, corrects and regulates the production of melanin and rejuvenates overall skin complexion. Skin is visibly brighter, clearer and luminous with noticeable improvements two weeks post peel. An intensive treatment, your skin will feel tight and dry and peel for up to 2 weeks, possibly longer. The degree of peeling is extensive and shedding is a normal outcome to expected. Skin can remain red through this process with slight warmth throughout.
